The vocal music works in Xinjiang style have been widely used in the artistic performance and vocal music teaching practice. Thanks to the influence of cultures in ancient China, India, Persia and Greece, the language of such vocal music works is rich, covering language belong to different branches of the Altaic language family,Endo-European language family, the Sino-Tibetan language family. Such branches are:Iranian language, Mongolian languages, Manchu, Turkic language family, the Slavonic languages and Han language. The scale mode and rhythm of vocal music works reflect the musical elements in the following three musical systems: Persian-Arabian musical system, European musical system and Chinese music system. The vocal music culture’s varieties are particularly important in artistic performance and the training of qualified vocalist. Therefore, the present study has great theoretical value as well as practical significance.In recent years, with the promotion and extension of the multicultural concepts, the inheritance protection of Ethnic minority music culture is receiving attention gradually. There are a good deal of research work related to the singing about ethnic vocal music works and the training of ethnic minority vocal music talents, little attention is paid to the teaching of ethnic vocal music works.In vocal music teaching, to get good teaching effect, teaching material selection, teaching methods and teaching content must be combined with the practical condition. Based on the life experience in Xinjiang, the working experiences in Kashgar University, study on artistic performance and vocal music teaching practice, and previous research during the postgraduate study, the author of the present thesis did further research from the angel of the definition and types of vocal music works in Xinjiang style, teaching in specific areas as well as combination of theory and practice. The author expects that this study can have enlightenments on the application of the vocal music works with Xinjiang traits to vocal music teaching in ethnic minority areas.The introduction section deals with the research contents. The research purposes and significance, the current research situation of vocal music works in Xinjiang style as well as the research methodology are presented. The first chapter of the thesis provides the definition, the characteristics and types of Vocal music works in Xinjiang style. It is defined according to the nationality, region and language. Works from different nationalities is classified and generalized. Ethnic vocal music works are summarized and classified from the Angle of the types of vocal music works. The second chapter mainly studies the application of vocal music works in Xinjiang style to vocal music teaching in Kashgar University. Four parts are included:the application principles, the application method, the steps to be taken, matters of attention. The third chapter mainly concerns the value of vocal music works in Xinjiang style in learning and teaching. It discusses its realistic value and profound significance from the perspective of students and teachers, the inheritance of minority cultures, the promotion of cultural diversification and the promotion of national reunification.
