This dissertation selects the words"buwaihu" "buwai" "wufei"and"buguo"as the objects of study, which express subjective diminishing judgement.In this article, the four words are divided into three classes:The first class includes "buwai"and"buwaihu".The second class includes "wufei". The third class includes "buguo", among which the first class is the focal point.The dissertation consists of six chapters:Chapter one firstly defines the words "buwaihu" "buwai" "wufei"and"buguo" which express subjective diminishing judgement as the object of study and illustrate the significance of the study.Then it gives a brief introduction of current studies done on the subject concerned.Finally,it introduces the guiding theories and data source.Chapter two describes syntax position、combination capacity and sentence category feature of the four words respevtively.Chapter three analyses the semantic feature of the four words.To give detailed description it takes "buwaihu"as an example,the differences between the four words will be illustrated in chapter four.Chapter four describes language value from two aspects respectively among the four words and with conjectural modality adverbs.Chapter five gives a description of diachronic changes of "buwai", in which the diachronic usage complexion and the lexicalization is illustrated.Chapter six is the conclusion of the paper.
