Comparative Study Of Transition Words "Danshi" And "Buguo"

On the basis of previous studies,this paper makes a comparative analysis of a large number of linguistic data.Based on the theory of semantics,pragmatics and the idea of"little triangle",this paper applies both description and explanation,qualitative and quantitative methods to make a comparative study of the transitional words�??Danshi" and�?? Buguo" in modern Chinese.The discussion is mainly carried out from three aspects:grammar,semantics and pragmatics.Firstly,this paper describes the evolution process of "?? Danshi" and�??Buguo",and explores their similarities and differences in syntactic expression.As transitional words,although they are usually used at the beginning of the last clause,they each show some different characteristics.Secondly,this paper discusses the semantic differences between "?? Danshi" and"?? Buguo".It mainly starts from two aspects:grammatical meaning and procedural meaning.It is found that�??Danshi" mainly emphasizes the transition meaning,while�?? Buguo" takes more contrast meaning.Contrast contains a certain meaning of transition,but transition does not necessarily mean contrast."?? Danshi" and�??Buguo" are often restricted by different semantic conditions.Thirdly,this paper makes a comparative analysis of the differences between�??Danshi" and�?? Buguo" in pragmatics.It can be seen from the analysis that "??Danshi" focuses on transition and emphasizes the latter clause."?? Buguo" focuses on contrast,and the key point to be expressed is the analysis of the comparison terms.�??Danshi" emphasizes objective narration,while "?? Buguo" emphasizes subjective evaluation.These distinctions determine the differences between "?? Danshi" and "?? Buguo" in the aspects of discourse function,sentence type selection and style selection,etc.In addition,this paper also makes an analysis of "?? Danshi" and "?? Buguo"as discourse markers.
