With the further implementation of the opening-up policy and in-depth development of economic globalization, more and more foreign funded enterprises begin to invest in China and an increasing number of Chinese enterprises begin to enter the international market as well. Being the medium of foreign exchange and communication, company profile plays a significant role in establishing the image of company, enhancing its popularity and competitiveness, therefore the translation of company profile is becoming more and more important as well.Traditional translation theories lay emphasis on the "equivalence" between the target text and source text, requiring the target text should be loyal to the source text. However, company profile is a form of practical text with strong purpose, and so its translation should take language, culture and value difference into consideration to live up to the reading and thinking habit of the target reader. According to Skopostheorie, translation purpose determines the translation process, method and strategies. Skopostheorie injects new vitality to translation research and provides significant guideline for the translation of company profiles.Based on her translation experience, the author of the present thesis takes company profile translation as the study object and plans to proceed this study from the prospective of Skopostheorie. In the paper, the author discusses the translation procedure of company profile, including translation preparation, translation process and work after translation, and then makes a further illustration on the application of Skopostheorie in company profile translation at lexical, syntactic and textual levels. It is hoped that the present study can throw some useful insight into the C-E translation of company profile. |
