Study On Discourse Markers "Ni Kan(Shuo) Ni"

Recently, discourse markers have been one of the most important researcher objects and a large number of research achievements have been achieved. This thesis focus on the "ni kan(shuo) ni", one of the highest use frequency discourse markers in daily language-speaking. The study is based on those materials which from interviews, TV programs and CCL corpus. Emergent Grammar and Conversation Analysis Theory make a theoretical foundation of the whole thesis.The thesis concentrate on the basic characteristics, discourse types, pragmatic functions, formation mechanism and application feature of discourse marker "ni kan(shuo) ni", and has been divided into five chapters.Chapter one is a brief introduction of research background and significance. Except for these, this part also outlined the success have been achieved, especially research on " ni kan(shuo) ni" Besides, there is a summary of research theory, methods and corpus.In chapter two, two basic patterns of "ni kan(shuo) ni" have been mentioned------discourse markers and non-discourse markers. The non-discourse markers could be diviended into linear sequence and cross-layer combination as non-discourse markers. The cross-layer combination is more than linear sequence in quantity and the method of use as discourse markers is "ni kan(shuo) ni" been used in a linear sequence to be a discourse marker. Besides, chapter two also has amphasized the basic characterristic of "ni kan(shuo) ni"Chapter three talks about the pragmatic functions and discourse functions when "ni kan(shuo) ni" is taken in use. Base on the analysis of the language materials, this part reveals the tendentiousness when it is been used in turn-taking. The tendentiousness which is overwhelming in practical use. Besides, considering about the multiple semantic relationship, this chapter also focus on the semantic relationship of "ni kan(shuo) ni" in turn-taking and analyzed the pragmatic functions from two perspectives:discourse function which includes formal discourse function and textual function and interpersonal function concering about seven kinds of interpersonal function.In chapter four, we inspect the formation mechanism and application feature of "ni kan(shuo) ni". From three aspects:reanalysis, subjectivity and inter-subjectivity and emergent meaning, a suppose about the formation mechanism has been made. In addition, according to the result of the comparison, statistics and analysis of corpus, we discuss the tendency of context appraise and communicative subject which "ni kan(shuo) ni" present in language communication.In chapter five,we summarize the content and conclusion of the study and point out the deficiency of it.
