Study On Text-image Relation Of Photograph-literature

This paper is a study on text-image relation of non-fiction photograph-literature, photographic poems and photographic novels, on the basis of text analysis.The idea photograph-literature was first announced by Cheng Dongfang in1990, and had a boom in theoretical research in the beginning of this century, but soon fell into silence, leaving a lot of controversy on many important issues. Among these issues text-image relation is of the most importance. There are five representative theories, the Aesthetic Composition Theory, the Malposition Theory, the Helical Structure Theory, the Intertextuality Theory and the Implosion Theory. But all of these theories are either too broad or too narrow minded, and to some extent divorced from actual writing cases. This paper selects typical photograph-literature texts, and do specific study on their text-image relations.There are five main parts:The prolegomena gives a comprehensive introduction to the research background of photograph-literature, and shows both the research methods and value of this paper.Chapter one is a study on text-image relation of non-fiction photograph-literature. As there are many non-fiction photograph-literature texts, they are analyzed in three subcategories:biography, topography and historical events.Chapter two is a study on text-image relation of photographic poems. It tells the reason why photographic poems pick non-fiction photography themes, and the representation of poem’s priority in photographic poems.Chapter three is a study on text-image relation of photographic novels. It discusses the division of text and image in photographic novels, and three aspects of the contradictory relation between them.The epilogue summarizes the current status of photograph-literature and discusses its development trend.
