The Research Into The Application Of The Photographic Image Elements In Contemporary Chinese Oil Paintings

With the development of social science and technology, the photographic technology,especially the digital photographic technology, has achieved its flourish in recent years, with hasled China into the picture-reading era. The pictures and images, including the overwhelmingnews pictures, colorful pages, the eye-catching print ads in the street, light boxes, cards, andfashion magazines, have been taken as the main information-bearing media more than before tospread a mass of information. We get more in touch with the media image, we are moreinseparable from this important information exchange means. And people’s way of thinking andlifestyle have taken a fundamental change. However, the changes have made affects on thetraditional oil paintings by the traditional means. The oil paintings nowadays are moreexpression of the artists’ ideas than the record way of real life. More and more artists have madeuse of photographic images as the source of materials of their traditional oil paintings. They havebroken the prejudice to the photographs in the works of paintings. Whatever digital videos ordigital cameras, and even digital techniques in the after-effect process, artists use various ways toorganize the materials to get their works, which increasingly enhance the speed of picturecreation. After all, that has open a new era of combination photographic technology and thetraditional oil paintings in Contemporary Chinese Oil Paintings.This paper attempts to, holding the rational attitude, clearify a few concepts, and then toexplore both of the two visual arts used and combined by several creative artists in the past threedecades of Chinese contemporary art works, which are the typical use of photographic images.In the end, we will review the pros and cons of the use of photographic images, and, in themeanwhile, we will come to the essence of the visual image existence in the contemporaryworld.
