Throughout the development history of fine brushwork figure painting inChina, its sense of time has experienced the transition from the ancient time’scontinuity to the contemporary era’s fragment. This history is also an epitome inthe evolution of contemporary Chinese painting. On the base of clarifying Chinese and western views of time and space andtechniques of expression in painting, this thesis focuses on exploring on howChinese peculiar mobile observation and aesthetic standard of subjective imageryachieve the unique expression of time in Chinese traditional fine brushwork figurepainting under the influence of Chinese traditional philosophy of "man being anintegral part of nature" and in the specific social and historical environment.Meanwhile, this thesis makes an investigation of Chinese contemporary finebrushwork figure paintings under the era background of economic and culturalglobalization and analyzes the transition’s underlying reasons: the impact of thenew medias like network, video camera, camera, film, etc.; the change of aestheticstandards and aesthetic ideals; the influence of western painting’s perspective rules;the innovation and rebellion against the traditional painting. New context certainlycauses the change of subject matter’s selection and brings new compositions ofrealism, dicoration and fantasy and so on.In the future development of fine brushwork figure painting, the artist’sinnovation breakthrough should not only stay at the modelling language level, should further explore the transformation of the creative concepts such as timeconsciousness and try to create the new brilliance.
