This research is, with college students in Fujian area as its subjects, to revise the Chinese version of Self-compassion Scale, investigating the parenting styles received by college students as well as the features of their self-compassion; based on this, the study will further explore the relationship among the parenting styles, the features of college students’ self-compassion and their psychological well-being. The study results show that: firstly, as to the parenting styles, there are significant differences in demographic variables, such as students’ gender, grade, the number of children in the family, home-place, education level of father, education level of mother and so on; secondly, the Chinese version of Self-compassion Scale, composed of three factors----self-kindness, the sense of common humanity as well as mindfulness, has high reliability and validity; thirdly, the total scores of college students from families of complete structure are remarkably higher than others, such as ones from single-parent families; fourthly, the parenting styles received by college students as well as the features of their self-compassion are both significant predictors of their own psychological well-being; fifthly, in the meantime, the parenting styles are also the significant predictors of the features of college students’ self-compassion; lastly, the features of college students’ self-compassion play an intermediary role between the parenting styles and their psychological well-being. |
