Bodhidharma, called Dharma. He is the founder of the Zen school of Buddhism. Dharma has made a great contribution for Zen in flourish and development. With the spread of Zen Buddhism, Bodhidharma image growing in popularity, He not only was later Zen monk deification, but also into literature, evolved from historical figures into the literary image. In the literature before Tang Dynasty, Dharma is a South India monk.In the literature of the Tang and Song dynasties, Dharma is portrayed as a monk. In Ming Dynasty novel, Dharma with a variety of image, such as the image of monks, the image of Shenseng,and the image of Rohan. Dharma is the development and change of image. He is no longer speaker of Zen. Due to the impact of ideology and culture of the Ming Dynasty, Dharma was given by the idea of statecraft. Dharma used Gangchanglunli to living beings. Bodhidharma is merciful, also has miraculous magic. In the Ming Dynasty poetry, Bodhidharma is a monk. He is respected by people, but also been criticized by people.
