With the rapid development of modern science and technology, the alienation of science and technology is increasingly penetrating into all fields of people’s life. To re-examine alienation of science and technology, in the perspective of social development can help people more alert view of the development of science and technology.The article first discusses the source change of the alienation of science and technology and social development concept, analyzes related social development theory in modern times began, including the economic growth centered social development theory, the capitalist society development theory of the classic Marxism, Marcuse’s development of Marxist’s theory of labor alienation, expounds the modern developed industrial society is a one-dimensional society, science and technology become a ruling tool, and further explain the connotation of the alienation of science and technology. Then, based on the dialectical analysis of critical thought Marcuse’s alienation of science and technology, this paper discusses the development of science and technology that the Marcuse’s alienation criticism thought reflects, and then clear the nature of social development is man’s all-round development, the standard to measure social development is a social nature of coordinated development and man’s all-round development, the development of science and technology accords with the fundamental interests of all mankind. Finally, this paper explore the root of the alienation of modern science and technology and the realistic route to weakening of the alienation of science and technology.
