The Eco-translatology put forward by Professor Hu Gengshen is an interdisciplinary field of research which combines Ecology with Translatology. It requires the translator to make the target text adapt to the translational eco-environment by means of selection and transformation. The author of this thesis makes an analysis and study of S.I.Hsiung’s self-translation of The Bridge of Heaven on the basis of the theory of the Eco-translatology. By comparing and analyzing the examples taken from both source and target texts, it has been found that serving as a writer and translator at the same time, the self-translator’s special subjectivity is consistent with the "translator-centeredness" emphasized by the Eco-translatology. In the periods of writing and translating the novel, the writer adapted himself to the translational eco-environment in the aspects of need, competence and environment. Particularly in the course of translation, the adaptive selection and transformation were actively made in the linguistic, cultural and communicative dimensions. This thesis has verified the guiding function and the practicability of the Eco-translatology in the process of the translation study, and provided a new perspective for it.
