A Research On The Phonogy Of Lengshuijiang Dialect In Hunan Province

Lengshuijiang City was in control of Xinhua County for a long time,and did not resume until the city formed in1969.From the existing literature and data, all the time, there are few academic researches on Lengshuijiang dialect. In the early days of data, some sporadic records are only found in some large-scale survey reports, and it is also far away from the understanding of Lengshuijiang dialect. Recently, phonology mentioned in some papers is also rough. On the basis of our field survey, a detail description, a comparison and analysis of the phonetics have been finished. This article first overall portrays the phonetic system of Lengshuijiang dialect, the combinative table of Initials, Finals and Tones, as well as the syllabary of Lengshuijiang dialect. Then we made a diachronic comparison to Lengshuijiang dialect and medieval dialect, and summed up the Lengshuijiang dialect phonological characteristics. In addition to, we described literal and colloquial reading of Lengshuijiang dialect. Lastly, we analyzed the voiced initials of Lengshuijiang dialect and summarized the law of their historical evolution. Based on the former research and social leaders of the time, we hope to provide some new observation and analysis to Lengshuijiang dialect. We hope all these efforts will be helpful to enrich the study on Lengshuijiang dialect.
