The Chinese zodiac is a carrier to inherit human civilization. With the long-term culturaland historical accumulation, Zodic culture has a profound influence on people’s life. As a kind oftypical folk custom, zodiac culture is merged into the elements of a new era, and shows a newmeaning. Zodiac culture is no longer limited to the Chinese ancient concept of Yin and Yang, buthas infiltrated into various aspects of Chinese culture, such as the Chinese literature, paper cutting,painting, and utensils, religion.The art forms with the theme of Chinese zodiac exist in all over thecountry. They involve in more artistic shapes with a wider range than any other art form.Refering to a number of literature work and the the market investigations about the artforms and social effects of the Chinese zodiac, this paper briefly discusses the origin of Chinesezodiac,including access zodiac, origin, evolution and the origin of the twelve Earthly Branches ofthree parts. and focuses on the zodiac culture that roots in folk culture and its influence on Chineseculture, mainly including similar between the combination of parts of the nation Zodiac,associated with the zodiac customs, rituals, folk festival, the aesthetic connotation about internallyand externally, unique symbolic significance, the zodiac in different art show, development statusand the value orientation of Chinese zodiac culture and the potential thought of harmony and otheraspects. With the above analysis, this paper concludes the importance of zodiac culture in Chinesetraditional culture, and the great influence on modern social life.
