With China’s rising international status, the demand for Chinese language and culturefrom all over the world also grows. As a popular language, Chinese possesses greatspace for development in its potential learning and examination, all Chinese learnershope to examine their learning achievement and obtain effective recognition through anauthoritative test for language ability. Therefore, the demand for Chinese proficiencytest (HSK) is constantly increasing. It is necessary to conduct studies on differentaspects of HSK. The new Chinese proficiency test after the reform of is divided into sixgrades of written examination. Now the fourth and fifth grades are equivalent to theintermediate level in the past (for prose is convenient, from the new HSK, so called theHSK old HSK). The paper type in choreography retains the old HSK listening andreading parts, but deletes comprehensive filling-in blanks, grammar specialty parts andincreases the writing part. Writing is the typical output language practice ranging fromlanguage learning to the application of language, and it is a difficult teaching part, and itappears complex in error types and numerous in error number from students. Since it isput forward, the errors analysis theory exerts important influence on foreign languageteaching. Therefore, on the basis of students’ writing errors, it is very important toanalyze and summarize the errors and put forward according measures.This thesis mainly regards the errors appearing in the writing parts of the HSK fourthand fifth grades as the study object. We select questions which cover all the test pointsfrom the writing parts of the HSK fourth and fifth grades, then make the examinationpaper, and organize the students to test. Finally we summarize the error types andnumerate the according error based on test results to elaborately study the errorappeared in students through date and examples. The writing part is the new item typeafter reform because the study on it is rare, so the thesis is creative in the study. Thereare six chapters in the thesis. The first chapter is an introduction to the researchbackground, the research reasons, research object, research significance and researchmethodology. The second chapter is an overview of the writing part of the new HSKfourth and fifth grades. Specifically, we introduce the sentence completion type,sentence-making type and essay-writing type to analyze their test points andcharacteristics. The third chapter is the main part. We numerate and analyze the students’ error problems appeared in the writing part of the fourth and fifth grades withranging from vocabulary, grammar, discourse, basic format and character writing. Thefourth chapter summarizes the reasons of error. The fifth chapter is a main part, and thepurpose of the thesis. On the one hand, through the previous studies of errors, andstarting from the specific types of errors to guide writing teaching suggestions from thenew HSK fourth and fifth grades; on the other hand, based on a different topic, thethesis is to summarize writing strategies of the HSK fourth and fifth grades. The sixthchapter is the conclusion. We summarize the thesis and draw conclusions. We hope thatthis study can provide ideas about writing teaching of the HSK fourth and fifth gradesfor the teacher, can help the students who seat the examination, and can promoteChinese writing teaching to improve the students’ writing level.
