Serving as an effective means of culture transmission, the translation of Chinese classics into English constitutes an important field of translation. Despite the long history of the Chinese classics translation, the translation of tea classics is just unfolding for translators at home and abroad. Therefore, with the English translation of Book on Tea by Zhu Quan of the Ming Dynasty as the case study, the author expects that its unique cultural role will provide a meaningful reference for the tea classics translation in future.Intertextuality is one of the biggest obstacles for translators. Drawing on the English translation of The Classic of Tea, this report analyzes the inter-textual elements of Book on Tea, which is a representative tea classics of the Ming Dynasty characterized by its inheritance to the preceding works, and proposes a tentative plan on the translation strategy accordingly on the basis of the English translation of Book on Tea.
