By virtue of the cognitive illocutionary metonymy deficiency in enigmaticfolk similes traditional researches, this paper mainly illustrates two problems:(1) Enigmatic folk similes are deemed as a cog-pragmatic phenomenon classified as the illocutionary metonymy study category. The operational model in enigmatic folk similes is also Attribute-enforcement-association, involving cause-effect induction;(2) this paper argues that “attribute”,“consciousness”,“intentionality”,“meaning construal” have almost same traits, and the last three havealmost identical concept. The so called “Attribute enforcement association” isa specific operational-driven procedure insertion among the non-operational concepts. Enigmatic folk similes taken as the study objective and data, illocutionary metonymy taken as theoretical framework, this paper holds the so-called“attribute operation” as the simplest means to achieve implicative in indirect speech, by standard of which this paper expounds and proves the rationality and efficiency of the model proposed. The foothold of this study is the hard core claims of illocutionary metonymies-the basic idea is that an attribute of a speech act can stand for the speech act itself.(Panther,2004:103-104).However, the previous researches on the study of enigmaticfolk similes mainly focus on the rhetoric studies, stay on searching and sorting outthe enigmatic folk similes, analyze the structures of enigmatic folk similes whichconsists of two parts, as well as the features of the concrete theoretical basis.Currently, the linguistic study has been translated from descriptive paradigm intofocusing more on the mechanism study on the foundation of description. At present,Scan interpretation study has been paid to the cognitive mechanism and operation of enigmatic folk similes. This article aims to give an interpretation to reveal themechanism behind it through the perspective of illocutionary metonymies. Thepaper’s author proposes four features of enigmatic folk similes in the perspective ofcognitive pragmatics. First, Enigmatic folk similes is an indirect speech act. Second,Enigmatic folk similes embodies the intentionality of cognitive pragmatics. Third,Enigmatic folk similes possesses cancel ability. The attitude and the content ofintentionality are affected by the context. Enigmatic folk similes have the feature ofpragmatic vagueness. This dissertation is divided into six parts. Part one is consisted of the researchbackground, research objectives, motivation, hypothesis, etc. This part also states themethod that the attribute model of illocutionary metonymies used in this paper. Itmainly includes the combination of induction and reasoning methods, comparativeresearch and so on. They make a brief introduction of the necessity and feasibility ofthis paper.Part two, the part of the literature review make an overview of cognitivepragmatics used in enigmatic folk similes research, rhetoric enigmatic folk similestheory, psychology enigmatic folk similes theory, semantics enigmatic folk similestheory, pragmatics enigmatic folk similes theory and cognitive pragmatic enigmaticfolk similes theory. Part three is the theoretical framework. Base on the previousinterpretation of enigmatic folk similes. The author puts forward her own analysismodel the attribute enforcement-association model. Preliminary demonstrate thenecessity, rationality and validity of the attribute enforcement-association model.Part four is the results of the study. The author develops a renewed appreciation forthe cognitive pragmatic of enigmatic folk similes. Explain the cognitive pragmaticcharacteristics of enigmatic folk similes in detail. Systematically analyzes theprocedure of Attribute cause and effect inference of enigmatic folk simile. Part fiveapplies the application and the examples of enigmatic folk similes in Attribute Model, interprets the applicable process of this framework. Part six makes a conclusion atlast. It summarizes the contributions and applications of our findings, meanwhile, theauthor points out the limitations and the reference opinions for the further study.
