These studies mainly focus on linguistic feature and translation strategies, without enough focus on the aesthetic experience of target readers.Image is important in the appreciation of poetry. In this thesis, the author analyzes the rich cultural connotations of "moon" image in ancient Chinese poetry and discusses the translation of image from gestalt theory. The thesis also proves that it is feasible to apply gestalt theory in translation of poetry images. According to gestalt theory, the fragments are restricted by their holistic situation. When translating images in poetry, translators should take into account the holistic situation of the poem and different connotations of "moon" image in western and eastern Culture.
