In order to enhance China’s cultural influence, we need communications and translation between cultures. Translation itself is a form and way of communication, and it bears many similarities with communication in terms of aims, functions, principles and so on. This essay will focus on the analysis of translation from the perspective of communication studies in order to provide a new angle for translation studies.An important branch of global communication studies is literary translation, because literary work embodies the culture of language, especially by the form of culture-loaded words. Therefore, this essay will do analyses of English and Korean versions of A Dream of Red Mansions from the perspective of communication studies.The debate between domestication and foreignization has started since a long time ago. Translation is not merely a conversion between words, but it concerns many facts, especially the culture and aim of translation. Therefore, a study of translation from the perspective of communication studies will provide domestication and foreignization with a new thought, making them more practical. |
