DuFu,one of the greatest poets in China, is honored as the "Holy Poet". His poetry, known as "Poetic History", has a far reaching influence upon Chinese classical poetry. Since the Song Dynasty, more attentions have been paid to the studies on Du Fu and his poetry. From then on, the studies on Du Fu and his poetry took an important part in Chinese literature research. In ancient times, thousands of researchers annotated the poetry of Du Fu, which has become an unprecedented phenomenon.Korea is a part of the Cultural Circle of East Asia. The cultural exchange and literary communication between China and Korea have persisted for millennia. Korean classical literature includes the literary texts written in Chinese as well as in Korean. Furthermore, Korean classical literature had been dominated by the literary texts written in Chinese for more than a thousand years. Korean Shihua (notes on classical poetry in Korea), associated with Korean classical poetry, is also written in Chinese. As a result, the poetic critics consider not only Korean but also Chinese poets and poetry. Among the notes on classical poetry in Korea, the notes which refer to Du Fu and his works are rich in content. However, the academic circle didn’t pay insufficient attention to them. In my opinion, Korean Shihua is influenced by Chinese poetic theory, which indicates they have comparability.By comparing Chinese and Korean notes on classical poetry referring to Du Fu, we’ll find the prints of cultural exchange between China and Korea. This thesis is based on the notes on Du Fu and his works of Korean Shihua. From a Comparative Perspective, we will study the similarities and differences between Chinese and Korean poetic theory and the reasons behind. This thesis includes three aspects.Chapter one is about the status of Du Fu in China and Korea and the factors affecting the evaluation of Du Fu. Chapter two describes the divergence of the evaluation of Du Fu and his works, and then analyzes the relationship with "Controversy on poems of Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty". Chapter three discusses the national characteristics of Korean Shihua by comparing with Chinese poetic theory.
