The polysystem theory means the aggregate of various cultural systems in a certain culture from the "high" or "canonized" forms such as poetry to the "low" or "non-canonized" forms (e.g. Children’s literature and popular fiction). The purpose of the thesis is to investigate the application of the polysystem theory in the psychological translation, taking Adolescence as an example, and to elaborate the translation strategies from the angle of polysystem theory, as well as how the Chinese culture as the receiving culture influences the choosing of translation strategies. The major findings of the thesis are of three points. Firstly, we can regard the psychological translation as a system in order to examine its status in the polysystem, as well as the subjectivity of the translator, which is a new entry point and worth further investigation. Secondly, the translation strategy should be chosen according to the style of the psychology text, as in the case of Adolescence, a popular science reading, the translator should stick to the scientific attitude and its appeal to readers. Thirdly, the limitation of polysystem theory is also reflected during the translation of psychological translation.
