After the “Crises of Diplomatic Document”,the relationshipbetween Joseon Korea and Ming Dynasty has reached an impasse.Gwon Gean recommend himself to serve as an envoy abroad.Withhis rich experience of diplomatic missions,profound Sinologyaccomplishments,the sincere attitude to Ming Dynasty,Gwon Geangets the citation of Zhu Yuan Zhang and makes the tensionbetween Ming Dynasty and Joseon Korea relax. In addition, theexchange of poems between Gwon Gean and Zhu YuanZhang,opens Joseon Korea and Ming Dynasty poem diplomacyand has profound implications on the relations between the twocountries.This paper is divided into three parts:The first chapter introduce the relationship between JoseonKorea and Ming Dynasty before the diplomatic mission of GwonGean.In the late Hongwu Period,under the condition of MingDynasty recognizing the political power of Yi Song-gye withoutpresenting officially acknowledge, the suzerain-vassal relationsbetween Ming Dynasty and Joseon Korea have beenestablished.The first section mainly discusses the activeenvoy-dispatching of Yi Song-gye for getting the recognition from Zhu Yuan Zhang.The second and third section introduce the frictionand dispute between the two countries.The second chapter presents the situation of the diplomaticmission of Gwon Gean.The first section mainly introduce the life ofGwon Gean,including his service in Gwon Gean in Goryeo Dynastyand Joseon Korea,the contact with Ming dynasty in GoryeoDynasty,his rough official career and the cultivation of literature andphilosophy.The second section introduces the background of themission of Gwon Gean, and the process and basic reason of thethird “Crises of Diplomatic Document”. The third section mainlydiscusses the course of interview of Zhu Yuan Zhang and GwonGean, comprising the meeting and the exchange of poemsbetween Gwon Gean and Zhu Yuan Zhang. From above we cananalyze that profound Sinology accomplishments,rich experienceof diplomatic missions and rough official career are the main reasonwhy he get the citation of Zhu Yuan Zhang.The third chapter introduces the effect of the diplomaticmission of Gwon Gean. The first section mainly introduces thesituation after his coming back home and the changes of therelations between the two countries and Points out that the sincereattitude to Ming Dynasty is the basic reason of successfulmission.The second section mainly discusses the exchange of poems between Gwon Gean and Zhu Yuan Zhang which opensJoseon Korea and Ming Dynasty poem diplomacy.The third sectionintroduces the impact of Gwon Gean’s diplomatic mission on thelater generations.
