In the wake of developments in science and economy, human’scommunication tools and forms have become more and more diverse. Thus,peoples’ relationship become closer, and the world become smaller. Countriesaround the world are required to seek economic development and cultureprosperity under the grand background of globalization.This study takes animation movies as a medium while discussing thedevelopment problem of human culture, meanwhile based itself on the grandbackground of globalization. The main body of this study composed of threeparts. The first part focuses on analyzing the cultural value of animationmovies within the cross-culture perspective. It is one of the interculturalcommunication media as well as a carrier of social culture which bearing thecultural connotation, taking on dual features of media and culture. It is one ofthe intercultural communication media as well as a carrier of social culturewhich bearing the cultural connotation, taking on dual features of media andculture. The second part discusses the convergence in culture developmentvia analyzing themes and characters of the animation movies. It argues thatcultural convergence is the convergence of cultural forms. It is externalexpression to show the easier methods of identification of the target culturethat expresses similarities in two or more kinds of culture. At the same time, itemphasizes the development of different culture, various and graceful, acrossthe globe. Nevertheless, convergence is an inexorable trend of the culturedevelopment. The third part studies the homogenization of culture byanalyzing the intrinsic values conveyed in animation movies. The so-calledhomogenization is to emphasize the same or similar characteristics on culturalessence. The similarities can easily be accepted by the audience of the targetculture and be internalized as code of conduct and values. The similarities have universal significance. They could be argued that the developmentprocess of cultural homogenization appeal the pursuit of universal value.This study deems that the development of culture is dynamic. It would not be"westernized" culture in the collision between cultures. The development ofcultural convergence and homogenization are based on cultural diversity.Excellent and ascensive similarities would be presented when culturesinterflowing. Similar traits can come from the intension of different nativenational cultures, or essence absorption of target culture. And it would beidentified by people straddled two or cultural backgrounds, and be internalizedin social culture to form a concept of universality. This makes different culturesystems "develop coordinately". It achieves the purpose of interculturalcommunication and promotes the development of the culture to blossom allover the world.
