Under the present education system, the high school stage is very important inlifetime, In the face of the university entrance exam stress, learning is one of the mostimportant thing for High school students.They all pays close attention to the academicachievement. Studying the internal mechanism of effective for learning has been acommon interesting topic of psychologists at home and abroad. Former researchshows that there are relationships between academic achievement and he achievementgoal orientation. The achievement goal orientation reflects the usual direction whenan individual accomplish cognitive tasks.It belongs to the content of the achievementmotivation, and it is very important. Therefore,my study aims at understanding thecharacteristics of the achievement goal orientation for the high school student.Exploring the relationship among the parenting style, achievement goal orientationand self-esteem.Finally finding out whether the self-esteem is the mediating factorwhen the parenting style impact on student’s achievement goal orientation.This study uses a questionnaire to431high School Students.The results are asfollows:(1)The basic characteristics of High School Students’ performance-approach goalorientation is that performance approach goal orientation is highest,master goalorientation is the second one,performance avoidance goal orientation is the thirdone,master avoidance goal orientation is the last one;There is No significantdifference for every facter of achievement goal orientation in gender and subjectcategory; The high school students’ master goal orientation have significantdifferences between only and non-only students,non-only students higher than thoseonly students. Rural areas students’master approach goal orientation and master avoidance goal orientations higher than those rural students significantly. High schoolstudents’ performance approach goal orientation(grade three highest,grade onelowest),master approach goal orientation(grade three highest,grade twolowest),performance avoidance goal orientation (grade one highest,grade threelowest)existence significant difference in grades.(2) High School Students’ performance approach goal orientation remarkablypositive correlate to parents’warmth, parents’ over-intervened,parents’over-protected,mother favoritism.; Master approach goal orientation remarkably positive correlate toparents’ warmth,father’s over-protected,negatively correlate to parents’ sternpunishment and parents’ refusing denial;Performance avoidance goal orientationremarkably positive correlate to parents’ stern punishment,parents’ refusingdenial,parents’ over-intervened, parents’ over-protected,mother warmth. negativelycorrelate to father warmth;Master avoidance goal orientation remarkably positivecorrelate to parents’warmth, parents’over-protected, father favoritism.(3)Performance approach goal orientation and master approach goal orientationsignificantly positively correlate with self-esteem;performance avoidance goalorientation negatively correlate with self-esteem.(4)Self-esteem significantly positively correlate with parents’ warmth;negativelycorrelate with parents’stern punishment and parents’refusing denial.(5)Three-step regression analysis of self-esteem between mother warmth andperformance approach goal orientation show that the regression coefficients is0.162,p<0.01.When self-esteem added to the regression equation,the regression coefficientstuned to0.087,and the regression coefficients is not notable.(6)Three-step regression analysis of self-esteem between father warmth and masterapproach goal orientation show that the regression coefficients is0.342,p<0.01. Whenself-esteem added to the regression equation,the regression coefficients tuned to0.266,p<0.01,regression coefficients decline but still significant.In conclusion,self-esteem perform an complete intermediary function betweenmother warmth and performance approach goal orientation.Self-esteem perform anpartial intermediary function between father warmth and master approach goal orientation.
