Responsibility was a kind of important personality quality that one did his own things consciously, that is, the sense of consciousness that one was responsible for oneself and behavior tendency that one fulfiled actively.Responsibility played an important part in the growing of the person.It had been found that there was significant grade and gender differences in responsibility; responsibility had great effect on achievement performance. Based on summarizing the extant researches at home and abroad, the present study especially investigated the developmental characteristics of responsibility of the high school students and the relationship among parenting styles,achievement goal orientation and responsibility.By the questionnaire on 627 high school students, these conclusions were found:1.The whole level of the high school students'responsibility was medium, the mean was three to four. Grade two was in the sensitive period of responsibility development.2.There was significant main effect of grade, gender type on the whole responsibility,the social responsibility and the other responsibility; there was significant main effect of grade, gender type and interaction effect between grade and gender on the achievement responsibility,the collective responsibility and the family responsibility.3. The responsibility of the high school students had significant positive effect on the learning goal orientation and the achievement responsibility played the most important part among them, but responsibility had insignificant effect on the performance goal orientation.4. The parenting style had significant effect on the responsibility of the high school students. The warmth of the parents had significant positive effect on the whole responsibility; rejection and denial had significant negative effect on the whole responsibility.5. Mother' warmth performed an intermediary function between the whole responsibility and learning goal orientation.
