Xia Yan is a famous dramatist, playwright, critic, movie artist andliterary theorist. He joined the Communist Party of China in1927, enteredthe film industry in1932, as the main person in charge of the CPC Shanghaicultural aspects, he organized and led the left-wing film movementlandmark. Since1949he has served as leader of the national culture, thecompetent films and foreign affairs. He is a Chinese film developmentpractitioner and witnesses, has made a significant contribution for theChinese film industry and has a special status to the history of cinemain China.Since the new era, the academic community is increasingly expandingfield of research on Xia Yan, continuously publishing new work. Theseworks can be divided into Life Study and Comprehensive Study of these twoparts, the content is still mostly focused on the biographies level orliterature, theater and film script writing and other artistic level, lackof information on the organization and leadership of Xia Yan film events,advocacy film wave, promote film development and other management level,it is not comprehensive enough for discussion and thinking specialized.Based on this, trace the origin, based on the movie when generating thebeginning of management thinking in Xia Yan, combined with the1930’scomplex space-time background, accompanied by his personalcharacteristics and key identity transformation, analysis generates itsmanagement thinking basis and conditions, which further focuses on itsmain connotation movie management thinking and trying to summarize andanalyze the characteristics and limitations through its early films ofmanagement thinking, this article reveals its ideological constructionof each period after the founding of the impact, and ultimately to clarifyits historical value and significance of film management thinking, butalso look forward to bringing the reader that Xia Yan as a film eventorganizer and leader of a different kind of thinking.This article is divided into six parts. Introduction analyzes thehistory and current situation of Xia Yan research achievements, andbriefly describes the origin of its film activities and managementthinking, and the purpose and significance of this study. The firstchapter analyzes the beginning of the1920s and1930s the political,economic, cultural and other aspects of space-time background, pointingout that the movie management thinking of Xia Yan is not an isolatedformation and development together, but with the prevailing historicalconditions and their personal characteristics closely related. The secondchapter discusses the main content of Xia Yan movie management thinking,noting that he took "movie service to the masses" as the work of the core,leaded and promoted the "realism " movie trend, effectivelyrevolutionized the movie business and the factors reconcile, organization and the establishment of public positions of movies, writing andtranslation of many classic screenplay and theory books. Same time, healso actively promoted solidarity and cooperation with the nationalcapitalists, the directors and the actors, continuously to transport allkinds of film industry new talent, helped and supported young filmmakers’progress, founded the film company, emphasis on the development of filmtechnology, and established a left-wing movies from all aspects of theright to speak. The third chapter summarizes the analysis of the systemfeatures three major of Xia Yan movie management thinking-a distinctiverevolutionary struggle, highlighting the times tendentious and effectivebusiness practice, pointing out its management thought brought somedistinctive features of political parties, characteristics of the timesand practice characteristics while its era inescapable limitations havealso been described in some detail. Since Xia Yan at three important stagesin the history of Chinese cinema-that left-wing film movement, the "17-years movie" as well as the new period of development since the reformand opening have served a certain leadership positions, so its moviemanagement thought have produced some effect above Chinese movie threeperiods, and bring some new revelation, the fourth chapter of this articledoes the analysis and reflection.As an outstanding leader of China’s film industry, Xia Yan spared noefforts in its organization and management in the movie the contributionworthy of our in-depth review and study. Although due to age, his moviemanagement thought also carries obvious limitations, but it is still hasa very important practical significance and inspiration for us to managethe activities of today’s film.
