The Influence Of Drivers’ Emotion For Their Driving Performance

Driving performance, as the set of all behaviors and actions of drivers during the driving process, will directly influence drivers’safety and the traffic conditions. Emotion is the psychological feedbacks of life entities in the process of predicting and judging relevant things in the environment, it will influence the performance of human. Current studies have shown that emotion have impact on driving performance during driving process, but how to use the impact of the emotion to improve the driving performance has not been involved in.The emotion and driving performance of the driver is the research object in this paper. First, the relevant references were studied, then made several assumptions for the relationship between them, and designed several simulated driving experiments according to these assumptions. By the simulated driving experiments, we studied the effects of different dimensions of emotion on driving performance, and the driving performance when the intensity of emotional and the difficulty of driving tasks change. We demonstrate that the drivers’emotion can affect their driving performance, and the effect will be different by the emotion’s dimension and the diving task. The emotion with high valence and high arousal and the emotion with low valence and high arousal can trigger more dangerous driving behaviors, the driving performance of the emotion with high valence and low arousal and the emotion with low valence and low arousal are more cautious, the number of dangerous driving is less, and the data close to the clam mood. In the case of the driving task is more difficult, the latter two kinds of emotion even cause more cautious driving performance than the clam mood, the number of dangerous driving is further reduced, and the driver is safer. In addition, the effect of emotion on driving performance are varied due to the strength of emotion, the higher the strength of emotion, the more obvious the effect of emotion on driving performance.Finally, this paper confirmed that, regulate the emotion of driver to the emotion with high valence and low arousal and the emotion with low valence and low arousal, could help the drivers to improve the driving performance and the safety of drivers.
