Against the backdrop of economic globalization, business trade between China and other countries has become more frequent, and negotiation is an important part of trade, interpreters can even decides the outcome of negotiation. For many international business interpreters, even though they can speak English fluently, they will inevitably make pragmatic mistakes, how to avoid these mistakes and improve their pragmatic competence has become an urgent issue to be solved.Skopos Theory put forward by Hans J. Vermeer indicates that every translation action has its own intended purpose, and "the end justifies the means", thus it is of a great significance to international business negotiation interpretation. In international business negotiation interpretation, interpreters have to adopt flexible tactics to facilitate the success of negotiation. The author finds that in light of Skopos Theory, interpreters can adopt three strategies, including "use of basic interpreting skills","use of language skills" and "use of non-verbal skills". The author of this thesis founds that under the guidance of Skopos Theory, interpreters can use those strategies to improve their pragmatic competence. Besides, the author also provides feasible training methods for interpreters to improve their pragmatic competence.
