This report is based on an interpreting practice conducted by the author.It intends to discuss the principles and strategies of business negotiation interpreting to achieve the changing purpose of business negotiation interpreting.Business negotiations intend to achieve commercial goals,and every conversation in a negotiation has its own goal due to the negotiation strategies adopted by parties involved.Hence,Skopos theory emerges as a legitimate theoretical framework guiding this practice report since it attaches great importance to the hierarchy of purposes.Based on Skopos theory,in order to fulfill the changing purpose of negotiation interpreting,it is highly necessary for interpreters to properly cope with the information that is most related to the communicative purpose of translation and the negotiators' purposes and to deal with the less related one.To this end,this report proposes three guiding principles,including purpose-oriented,flexibility and information accuracy,and suggests four interpreting strategies: namely omission,integration,readjustment and elaboration.By exploring the application of Skopos theory,this report intends to facilitate interpreters to comprehend the communicative purpose of translation and the negotiators' purposes as a way of fulfilling the changing purpose of business negotiation interpreting.
