Directed Forgetting has been one of the most active domains in psychological studies inChina in the past two decades. With psychologists’ unceasing efforts, the theoreticalconstruction of intentional forgetting tends to be mature gradually.Researchers proposed thecoding theory and the retrieval inhibition theory to expound the intentional forgetting,Intentional forgetting factors affecting mainly concentrated in ages, test methods, testdifficulty,,the experiment materials and so on. The research technique improves constantlyso that as one special research method, intentional forgetting has been applied frequently tothe self-reference effect, the false memory and many other domains. This article reviews theresearch on directed forgetting in the past20years, makes a systematic summary and aprediction of this important psychological research. In this research,we combine the intentional forgetting effect with the part-list cuingeffect to explore the presence or absence of a more systematic clues, clues to the type andlocation of trail where the influence of intentional forgetting. The results showed that:(1)In the list method of the intentional forgetting, showing part of the trail as a reminderthere is a significant effect on the subjects’ recall performance, there are clues to prompt recallscores significantly lower than no clue prompted memories of results.(2)In the list method of the intentional forgetting, Chinese characters and phonetic clueshave no significant difference in the results to potential inhibition of forgotten memories.(3)In the list method of the intentional forgetting, when the position taken cues to remembervocabulary, intentional forgetting effect weakened. When the position taken cues to forgetvocabulary, intentional forgetting effect is not obvious.(4)The experimental results support the theory of par-list cuing to retrieval inhibition explanation.
