Study Of Wayfindings In Historic And Cultural Streets Of Changchun

Actively building the cultural atmosphere of historic and cultural streets in cities is one of the most direct and effective ways to present the regional landscape and folk customs of a street or even a city. And, to design the "personalized" wayfinding is a necessary step to make the atmosphere of historic and cultural streets standing out. Especially when facing the problems in the rapidly developing city construction driven by social economy, this trend is more obvious.Aiming at unfolding the cultural characteristics of the historic and cultural streets in Changchun, this research project provides Changchun with the wayfinding different from that of other historic and cultural streets for reference. First, it starts from confirming the concept of historic and cultural street and the basic principles of wayfinding and uses the outstanding wayfindings of domestic and overseas historic and cultural streets; second, it carefully analyzes and investigates the current conditions of the wayfindings of the historic and cultural streets in Changchun, concludes the existing problems, and proposes the sustainable design ideas; at last, taking Xinmin Street, Changchun, as example, and considering the audience’s appeal of redesigning the wayfindings of streets, it offers a set of wayfinding scheme, which integrates regional culture, national features, and historical background as a whole, and is suitable for the historic and cultural street, Xinmin Street, Changchun.By discussing and analyzing the wayfindings of the historic and cultural streets in Changchun, based on meeting the urban residents and visitors’requirement of reproducing historical scenes, this paper finds out the sustainable strategy for creating and developing the wayfindings for the historic and cultural streets in Changchun. It not only contributes to building distinct street atmosphere for the historic and cultural streets in Changchun, but also offers some reference for the related theoretical research.
