Shenyang is a central city in the Northeastern part of China.During the development of Shenyang,the historic streets are the carrier as well as a concentrated reflection of Shenyang urban development in modern times.Due to the influence of foreign colonization and local modernization,Shenyang was built into three regions at the same time: the old city part,the commercial street,and the subsidiaries of Fengtian Manchuria Railway.And historic blocks of Shenyang,affected by local as well as Manchuria colonial authorities,have also undergone autonomously and colonially constructing in modern times,presenting development in various aspects.What's more,the diversified development of historic streets has also improved the city politics,enhanced economic,and enriched culture,which in turn has promoted the urbanization and modernization of Shenyang.Along with the rapid and continuous social economic,historic blocks and city function have seldom interacted and the historic blocks have entered the new stage where the historical blocks were protected,exploited as well as prospered.Based on the above,the thesis consists of four chapters:Chapter One introduces the advantageous geographical conditions as well as the rich and profound history on which Shenyang came into being.Chapter Two reviews the early construction of Shenyang,and the formation of traditional historic Streets like Zhongjie Street and Xiaoheyan,and mainly illustrates the relationship between construction of Shenyang and the development of Zhongjie Street and Xiaoheyan historic streets in modern times.Chapter Three analyzes the colonial construction of Fengtian Manchuria Railway,and the formation and development of Taiyuan Street.Chapter Four mainly explores North Market affected by self-construction of Fengtian local authorities.The second half of the first four chapters mainly explores the political,economic,and cultural functions embodied in the historic streets of Shenyang from the official authorities,people's organizations,industrial and commercial enterprises,popular culture,and “Zabadir” by taking historical streets such as Zhongjie Street,Taiyuan Street,North Market and Xiaoheyan as examples.
