The training of design thinking in basic education of design is the common concern of alleducators who are engaged in it and should pay more attention to it. How to help and guidethe students to have an ability and consciousness of design thinking is what a teacher teachingBasic of Design must consider in his specific teaching.Whether a design thinking is formed or not directly determines the ability of students toaccept new knowledge in following courses. Thoughts determine our actions and behavior,and design thinking decides our design behavior and quality, decides students’ employmentorientation and their design level, and decides whether our students will be able to keep upwith the development of domestic design market’s huge potential steps. Therefore, to carryout this research has great significance both in cultivating qualified personnels to fit in withthe actual demand and for the development of art design education theory.The first years’ Basic of Design course for students should be the key to open thestudents’ creative thinking, and it is the the most important stage for students to begin theirdesign career. Through analyzing the current situation of domestic and foreign art designeducation, foreign design education focuses on culture, independence, creativity andcultivation of thinking.Domestic design education, especially for basic education of design, the courses can bedivided into basic modeling course and basic form course. A step of training thoughts isspecially added to the design basic course of China Central Academy of Fine Arts, but localart colleges do not have the specific content related to this in their syllabus, which merelystress the cultivation of students’ ability in this respect.For the art design students of higher vocational education,the advantage of vocationaleducation is that when practicing, the theory can be introduced, which can help students solveproblems in practice, and break the thinking of what used to be accustomed to and obtain theexperience in practice; eventually rise to theory and combine with the law of form andaesthetic rules, the formation of distinctive design way of thinking.As to basic education of design, training of thinking should transcend professional limitations, and study on a modern design way of thinking with universality, and scoop animaginative creation spirit in art. The goal of training design thinking is to train studentsthemselves self-improvement self-discovery. The course will combine the visual performance,image thinking in arts with the analysis and plan in design to expand students’ thinking andimagination, to improve creativity, to lay the foundation of design thinking for students, andfurther more to improve the connotation of design works through training. The training ofdesign thinking formed in the basic education of design often emphasizes an understandingand observation of the real world, an interest to explore and change the things and the abilityof visual expression, which will take the development of creative thinking as the foundation,and combine imagination of art, image thinking and design with the ability to find and solveproblems to open the student’s mind.The educator, historian Chen Yinke once pointed out:“the personality of universityeducation is the independence and the freedom of thought.” Therefore, the focus of thisresearch is with some clever tactics to combine the mature design thinking theory with basiceducation courses of design and “guide”,“arrange”,“form” thinking through practicaltraining. The so-called “guide” is to enlighten and introduce, will let the inner potential ofindividual out, let each student to make the best of himself. Through a type of training“encounter”, students first encounter questions, and solve the questions themselves(analysis),then summarize and arrange the accumulated experience in solving questions(variants).Through self-assessment in practical training, teacher guide students to sort out ideas,through talking and discussing with the students, help the students create their own way ofthinking consciously. On the basis of this, the layout of integrated, practical, high artistictraining subject will form the design thinking further.The basic education of design, as a part of university design education, can providespiritual motive for would-be designers. It must be the solution to the problem of thinking asits foundation. If the problem is not solved, thinking method will be the inherent andready-made styles without any significance for design. As for the customary concepts,including the concept of basic education of design, question is a truly meaningful approach.In modern society, design has been penetrated into all aspects, and the concern from people about the design is growing. An unique, personalized, interactive design is more and morepopular with the people. Thus, the design thinking is pretty important. Through the purposive,targeted training courses, students are required to learn a reverse and divergent thinkingmethod, learn to question and elaborate, and finally have the ability of reasoning rationally fordesign. The ultimate aim is to cultivate the students’ ability to think independently, to derivethe concept easily, and it is such ability possessed by the students that will lay a solidfoundation for their further professional learning.
