Yan Lianke’s creation cannot be separated from folk resources as he regards the folk as the realism field of his creation. Literary creation cannot stay away from folk resources, no matter what era it is. Taking Yan Lianke’s works as the research object, this paper analyzes the importance of folk resources to the creation of works from the perspective of study of literature and art.The story narration of Yan Lianke’s works is closely linked to folk resources. Yan Lianke’s works originate from the folk, and folk resources also provide inspirations for creation and development of his works. Henan writers’unique sense of history makes him have a strong feeling for the land. Mostly coming from this piece of land, Yan Lianke’s works are always around a variety of folk tales, and some of them are familiar while others are strange, which are because Yan Lianke has created these stories again, with our familiarized story patterns to describe a different and singular world.The characterization in Yan Lianke’s works cannot be separated from folk resources. Many folk characters provide him inspirations for creation, and the prototype of the characters in his stories may be a man in the street or a grass-roots civil servant. And just these ordinary existences.provide him special inspiration and outline those novel characters with peculiar personality.He has applied a great amount of folk resources in his works, and overt plots in his narration of many works are supported by folk resources as well--Taking Xiang Fu tune in Geisha Lotus and folk prescription of using relatives’flesh and blood to do drugs in Palou Tiange as examples. The narration of stories are around these folk topics, which expands contradictions and conflicts, and describes those originally common story in a shocking and magical manner, building bizarre worlds one after another.As a whole, the application of folk resources makes Yan Lianke’s works full and abundant. The rich and colorful folk resources endow his works with much food for thought, which is not only close to people’s life, but also easy for them to accept. Diverse forms of novel themes are supposed to make his works appear mixed and messy, but the consistent regional features and same folk customs make his works integrated and cohesive. His works consist of four series, and has gradually formed "Palou Mountains" and "Yaogou World" that exclusively belong to him.Taking the series of works of Yan Lianke as the research object and on the basis of absorbing previous research results, this paper uses the research methods of induction and summarization to study how Yan Lianke takes advantage of folk resources to make literac narratives, in the hope of reflecting the folk nature unique to Yan Lianke’s works through researches and thus mirroring the significance of folk resources to his creation of works.
