Formalism in Ethics and Non-Formal Ethics of Values. A NewAttempt toward the Foundation of an Ethical Personalism of Max Scheler discusses ethics of values, this partis very important in his system of philosophical anthropology. In this work,Schelercriticizes formalistic as well as eudaemonism. His ethics of values is not based on rational things but emotion, and value is anobjective existence which was given by felling and emotion. Then, he introduced us theconcept of morals. Mortals is not equal to obligation and responsibility, it’s a pursuit ofhigher value. We know that different places have different moral principles, and Scheler’stheory could explain the reason.Value has its own rank. Furthermore,Scheler provides the concept of the “person”.The person does not mean a real human being, a body is just a place where “theperson”takes place. A mature “the person” can own the power of morality. Moral virtue isonly based on “the person”. Moral virtue is not a simple name but a movement,it is amovement for person to the highest value rank, and it is a movement with the guide ofexample from crowd to gesamtperson. The value of personality theory is a bigimprovement in the history of philosophy, and what’s more, it has so much meaning onmoral education. By this research, we could know more about Scheler’s philosophicaltheory, and we could do more reflection on social moral questions.
