The National Narrative Study In New Century Yunnan Minority Television Series

Yunnan minority television series is created based on people’s real life in Yunnan minority area. It shows audience people’s unique national personality, national spirit and cultural value there. National narrative is a kind of narration that consisted of national personality, national spirit and cultural value. The present thesis is carried out to explore the modes, elements, strategies, and significance of national narrative reflected in Yunnan minority television series in order to get some inspire form present television series creation. National narrative of Yunnan minority television series is entry points. During the process, theories about narrative, folklore are adopted.In Chapterl, the author discusses the modes of national narration in Yunnan minority television series. There are mainly three kinds of mode:growing narrative, crisis narrative and love narrative. In growing narrative, the individual and the whole minority achieve growth at last. It explains audience the truth that all groups should live harmoniously with each other. Crisis narrative shows that one’s heart beats together with somebody’s, all groups should work together to fight against foreign enemy. As for love narrative, it calls for national unity to break through feudal shackles.Elements of national narrative are mainly studied in Chapter2. It analyzes the elements and function of national narrative. Elements of national narrative are divided into three:material, behavior, and conception. In the aspect of material elements, gorgeous dress symbolizes the national identity. Exotic wonders become the reasonable field of a particular narrative situation. For behavior elements, the poetic features of speech is the typical way of national expression, national ceremony is not only the external expression of national faith, but also epitomized national personality and national spirit. And the political disposition in elements of conception highlights the ideology of national narrative.Chapter3 mainly studies the narrative strategies of national narrative. The clans grudge in conception elements is the carrier of conflicts, political temperament reveals the ideology of national narrative. According to the angle of nation, this kind of drama narrative perspective can be divided into "internal narration" and "external narrative", and narrative content changes from "elaboration of history" to "contemplation of present". No matter which narrative perspective and narrative content should respecting minority discourse. It can cause people’s emotional resonance by satisfying audience’s cognition needs, catering to audience’s curiosity. In this way, it can achieve the narrative effect.The fourth chapter elaborates the significance of national narrative. This kind of narration expresses the dialectical attitude towards the folk of Yunnan minority, and starts a series of philosophical inquiry to their national belief. Meanwhile, the national narrative has the cultural function of writing the national collective memory and spreading national culture.
