Based on the theory of interpreting corpus studies and using corpus-basedstatistical analysis as the research method, the author carefully analyzed thetranscribed and tagged interpreting texts of five male and five female interpretingtrainees, in order to identify the differences in the interpreting performance betweenthem. This kind of corpus-based descriptive study is more objective and persuasive.Through the comparison of differences in linguistic features and disfluencyphenomenon between male and female interpreting trainees, the study finds thatgender factor does have influence on the interpreting performance of the interpreters,but the influence is quite limited. The interpreting performance of the interpreterslargely depends on the language level and interpreting skills of the interpreter.Meanwhile, this study also probes into the underlying reasons for the differences ininterpreting performance between male and female interpreting trainees based on thefindings of some sociologists and psychologists.In conclusion, based on the theory of interpreting corpus studies, a morescientific and objective research on interpretation is conducted in this study in order toinvestigate the influence of gender factor on the development of interpreting trainees.This paper has great significance for interpreting practice and teaching.
