This article analyzes the details of "Gei" alternative "Yu" in the modern Chinese period through the diachronic study of these two words. This article refers to the four versions of<Lao qi da> as major corpus which respectively appeared in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. These are all famous works that reflect the Beijing mandarin so they also can be used as powerful research data to evaluate the "Gei" and "Yu" sentence in Beijing dialect. At the same time, the research also includes the<Jin ping mei>,<The Mandarin Guide> and< Practical Chinese in Japan> as auxiliary materials, in order to make the overall study of the development, changes and alternative of words "Gei" and "Yu" in modern Chinese period.This paper is divided into two parts, the first part is arranged to the first four chapters which mainly respectively analyze the word "Gei" and "Yu" in the materials of Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasty, discard the dross and keep the finer part, to find out the laws of development and changes in different periods, trying to dig the whole process of "Gei" from the start, development and changes lasted to the end to replace The study of "Yu" also like this, thus provide objective corpus for the final summary. The second part is the summary of the overview of how "Gei" replaced "Yu". And the real replacement has three stages through the whole process.Finally, by mining the representative of each period data we can get the detailed analysis. Obtain the whole process of how the modern Chinese "Gei" alternative "Yu". In the corpus of the writing, we also pay attention to the development of the semantic components of the word "Gei". In the last chapter, I have summarized some ideas, hope to help the related scholars on research.
