With the gradual deepening of China’s reform and opening up policy, the exchanges of economy and culture between China and other countries have become increasingly frequent. As the window of China, publicity texts are of great significance to the introduction of its culture. Therefore, whether the translation of international publicity texts can achieve the desired effect will directly affect China’s international image. The translation studies of international publicity texts have been confined within the traditional concepts of "faith" and "equivalence" for a long time, a majority of which merely attach importance to the analysis of linguistic transformation, ignoring the subjective and active roles of translators. This thesis starts from the point of translator’s subjectivity and takes as its specific study case The Development Report on Nanjing’s Cultural and Creative Industry. Based on the translation practice, this thesis analyzes the application of the translation strategies of transliteration, omission, explanation, and addition after interpreting the translator’s cultural and communicative awareness under the guidance of Newmark’s semantic and communicative translation theory. Through a number of translation cases, this thesis tends to illustrate the specific strategies to be employed for the purpose of better publicizing the cultural and creative industry of Nanjing from the perspective of communicative aim and cultural explanation.
