This report is based on my translation of a children’s literature The Boy Scouts in a Trapper’s Camp. This book mainly describes the experiences of a group of boy scouts in the great woods. There they rescued many animals, fought with the poachers, celebrated their Christmas in the icy hollow as well as struggled their lives in the tough woods. All of these show us the pure, kind and lovely nature as well as the brave, upright and optimistic spirit of the boy scouts. Its vivid languages, humorous styles and simple but meaningful contents bring the lovely boy scouts to our life. I was arranged to translate the English materials to authentic Chinese by a book workroom in Xi’an. Hence it will be prepared for the publication of this book and educate as well as enlighten the readers of the children’s literature. While translating these materials, I found there existed significant differences between the translation of adult literature and children’s literature, particularly in the features of expression, collocation, syntactic structure and writing style. Therefore, I try to analyze the translation of the text from children’s literature perspective. Under the guidance of theoretical framework-Functionalist Translation "skopos theories" put forward by German scholars, I try to use practical strategies of children’s literature translation, reveal the significance of the children’s literature translation and its specialty. We can prove the authentic, fluent and good-quality translation works only could be gained though application of proper strategies. This report has four parts. The first part is task description, which includes the source and the requirement of the translation task as well as the framework of the report and the research significance. The second part is the description of the translation process, including introduction to the source text, preparations, translation theories, translation difficulties and text proofreading. The third part is the core section of this report, mainly analyzing the translation cases. It includes the analysis of the conversion of speech, translation of sentences. The fourth part is the summary of this translation.
