Working memory was proposed by Baddeley in 1974, and revised in 2000. The theoretical model of working memory consists of central executive, phonological loop, visuo-spatial sketchpad and episodic buffer. The function of the working memory is temporary processing and storage. And this process is important for learning, reading, understanding and other language cognitive activities. The semantic processing is the man purpose in language working memory. There are two methods of visual language processing:the first one is direct access of semantic, which is means that people can get the semantic through the orthographic. Phonological are not working in this process. The other method is the mediation of phonological, which means that phonological plays an mediate role in the relation between orthographic and semantic. However, the speech information can acquire from both visual channel and auditory channel. So, it is necessary to explore the Chinese charter recognition comprehensively according to the characters of the speech that mentioned above. The main influence factors to the time course of action of the orthographic, phonological and semantic is the links among them. Also, the links may effects the retrieval of language information in the process of working memory.So, this study intended to explore the time course of retrieval of the orthographic, phonological, semantic and the strength level of links among them. This research consists of two experiments. Both of them were used the paradigm of N-back. Expl used the 1-back paradigm, and all of the words stimuli were selected from "The dictionary of Chinese characters information". The picture stimuli were selected from the standard images of Snodgrass and Vanderwart. All of the pictures valid in Chinese sample according to the experiment of Shu. Exp2 explored the time course of retrieval of the orthographic, phonological, semantic and the links among them in the background of language processing conflict.The conclusion:(l)The time course of retrieval of the language information in the working memory of orthographic is that the retrieval of orthographic was faster than semantic and phonological, and semantic was retrieved faster than phonological. The time course of retrieval of the language information in the working memory of phonological is that the retrieval of phonological was faster than orthographic and semantic, and orthographic was retrieved faster than semantic.(2) The time course of retrieval of the language information in the working memory of orthographic which in the in the background of language processing conflict is that the retrieval of orthographic was faster than semantic and phonological, and semantic was retrieved faster than phonological. The time course of retrieval of the language information in the working memory of phonological which in the in the background of language processing conflict is that the retrieval of phonological was faster than orthographic and semantic, and orthographic was retrieved faster than semantic.(3) The strength level of the links among the language information is that the link between orthographic and semantic was stronger than the link between orthographic and phonological, and the link between orthographic and phonological was stronger than the link between phonological and semantic.
