With the rapid development of world economy, the exchange of different cultures is becoming more and more frequent between countries and peoples. The Chinese traditional culture plays a vital role in the world, so translation between languages has become an essential part in international communication.Great Walls of Discourse and Other Adventures in Cultural China, a famous professional book written by Haun Saussy involves many fields(including the understanding of China from others, Chinese culture and knowledge and translation in different cultures etc.) which meets the exchanging demand of the world.The report consists of five parts(introduction and the other four chapters) to make an analysis and study on the translated material of the book(chapter one) on Susan Bassnett’s Cultural translation theory using some effective translation methods and ways. Chapter one and two introduce some necessary background information, the meaning of the study and some preparation before the task. Chapter three and four contain the cultural translation theory,some typical cases and theoretical analysis.The last part is mainly about some experience and enlistments of the author.I hope the report will be helpful for the understanding of sinologists and readers about the Chinese culture, the transmission of Chinese culture to the outside world and the improvement of my English study.
