Sichuan Province is located in the south-west of C hina. The architecture there has distinctive features from Song Dynasty to Yuan Dynasty. Directed by history archaeology’s theory, the thesis based on the first-hand data of author’s field survey and mapping, combined with other scholars’ correlative disquisition and correlative history documents, attempt to draw a conclusion about the temple architecture stage dividing of Song Dynasty and Yuan Dynasty in Sichuan District, and discuss the changes of the temple architecture arrangements among different periods in history. The thesis pointed out that there are three different stages of the monomer architecture types periodization: the first stage is from the Shao Xing period to the JiaDing period in South-Song Dynasty(A.D.1131-1208), the second stage is from the JiaDing period in South-Song Dynasty to the Da De period in Yuan Dynasty(A.D.1208-1297), the third stage is from the Dade period to the end of Yuan Dynasty(A.D.1297-1368). The third stage could be divided into two sections: the former section is from the Dade period to the ZhiShun period in Yuan Dynasty(A.D.1297-1333), the latter is from the Zhishun period to the end of Yuan Dynasty(A.D.1333-1368).Through the above research, the thesis shows that the changes of the ancient architecture from Song Dynasty to Yuan Dynasty were affected by many districts, closely related to the history events in Sichuan District.
