Hamblin’s informal logic thought consists of fallacy theory and argument theory. Hamblin criticized the traditional fallacy theory, and then argued the formal dialectic which on the base of commitment database.Hamblin takes the view which identified argumentations and implications as the traditional theory’s drawback. Hamblin builds the accept-based argument system and argues new assessment standards which including truth-standard, acquaintance-standard and argument-standard for the sake of conquering drawbacks of traditional theory. Hamblin’s informal logic thought has great influence no later research on informal logic. Walton extends Hamblin’s singular argument model into diversity dialogue model and argues new assessment-standard for fallacy theory. Van · Eemeron and Grootendorst argue Pragmatics Argument on the base of Hamblin’s Formal Argument. Hamblin’s argument theory also makes contributions to innovations of argument theory. Hamblin’s informal logical thought impulses development of contemporary informal logic.
