Cat Software Application In Hydropower Engineering C-E Translation

With the implementation of "Go Global” strategy of Hydropower Engineering Industry in China, volume of Hydropower Engineering C-E translation has increased significantly and traditional human translation cannot meet the market demand. Therefore, the application of the CAT software in Hydropower Engineering Translation has developed rapidly. This study was aimed at exploring the influence of the CAT software application on the productivity and quality of C-E hydropower engineering translation through comparative experiment. Two groups were set up in the experiment: Group I translating with CAT software as experiment group and Group II of human translation as control group. In addition, research approaches such as screen recording, questionnaires and interview notes are also adopted in the study. Through analysis on source text, screen recording, questionnaires, interview notes and target texts, it is found that the CAT software can reduce the mistranslation and maintain the consistency of terms and style. Therefore, the author concludes that the CAT software can improve the quality of the C-E hydropower engineering translation. However, during the application of the CAT software, quality of the translation memory must be strictly controlled.
