As outstanding masters in the history of Chinese Ci-poetry, Su Shi and Xin Qiji made great contributions to the creation and development of unconstrained Ci. Therefore, study on them was more concentrated on their works of unconstrained Ci. However, with the deepening of study, more attention was gradually paid to their works in other categories, of which their rural Ci received certain attention. However, the definition of rural Ci by Su Shi and Xin Qiji has been controversial, while study mainly concerns scattered study on either of them and appreciation of their representative works, thus allowing great space of comprehensive comparative study on their rural Ci. In particular, it is worthy of profound discussion on the differences in similarities of their works by thoroughly reviewing their works in the process of study, thus reflecting the most prominent features and achievements of their respective rural Ci and the significance of their works in the history of Ci-poetry. Therefore, based on this, a comprehensive comparative study on rural Ci by Su Shi and Xin Qi ji is conducted in this paper.This paper is divided into three chapters. Chapter One mainly introduces the definition and development history of rural Ci, sorts out the controversies of rural Ci by Su S-hi and Xin Qiji, and defines the rural Ci by Su Shi and Xin Qij in accordance with the specific concept of rural Ci, thus laying a foundation for further study. Chapter Two mainly discusses the characteristics in the subject selection and emotional expression of rural Ci by Su Shi and Xin Qiji, deeply explores the differences and similarities in the works, and reveal their unique features. Chapter Three mainly explores the artistic characters and historical significance of rural Ci by Su Shi and Xin Qiji, focuses on discovering the characteristics and innovations of the works in the style of emotional expression and specific approaches of ex-pression. Meanwhile, works of rural Ci by Su Shi and Xin Qiji are reviewed in the entire development history of Chinese Ci-poetry, thus revealing their significance and influence on the entire development of Ci-poetry.
