On The Artistic Features Of The Dancing Movements Of Pas De Deux In Ballet “Swan Lake”

Written by a master of fine arts majored in aesthetic study of ballet, this thesis takes the world famous ballet “Swan Lake” as its research object, elaborates and discusses the movement of dance language of pas de deux in terms of artistic theory, and gives some aesthetic judgment to figure characteristics and movement of dance language of pas de dux in “Swan Lake”.The dance language is the principal means of dramatic creation, whose main tasks are shaping figures and expressing thoughts and feelings of the character. The purpose of this thesis is to study figure characteristics of the pas de deux in the “Swan Lake”. There are three figure in it, that is the hero, the “prince” full of “dedication” and “dreams” towards perfect love, the heroine ”Odette”, a fantasy of the prince in the form of ”white swan”, indicating “nobility” and “purity”, and the devil’s daughter “Augieleah”, the “black swan” with “beauty” and “temptation”.Ballet is a kind of drama, dramatic language is expressed in the lines of the actor or actress, while in the ballet, and dance language is represented by performers’ dancing movements. In this thesis, the conclusion has been drawn that the same movements made by the “black swan” and “white swan” indicate different individual characteristics of the action from fragment analysis of pas de duex of the “black swan” and that of the “white swan”. While the pas de deux between Odette and the prince enjoys the artistic features of ”emotional” movement with tenderness and nestling, the one between “Augieleah” and the prince shows features of “technical” movement featuring “falsehood” and ”fraudulence”.Therefore, this thesis will try to analyze and understand the dancing language and movements of the pas de deux by using the drama theory of the language of drama action, and summarizes the figure characteristics of the pas de deux and the artistic features of the language of dance movements in the world famous ballet "Swan Lake", with a view to make a contribution to the future development of the Chinese drama.
