The character of "micro" means "small", yet also means "subtle" since ancient times. For example, "Book of Rites: about Learning" said, "His words are simple and accessible, subtle and perfect, with few metaphors yet clear meaning." The character of "micro" here refers to a simple and accessible way of expression. That is, concise and comprehensive words used have a great effect. The character of "micro" today has a more delicate and exquisite meaning, more representative of the contemporary attitudes towards life and art. In the field of microscopic plastic arts, subtle arts also can offer visual and spiritual shock with its unique charm. Microscopic plastic arts are to inherit macroscopic and traditional beauty. With advanced science and technology, a new creation world is developed. Beauty thus continues in microscopic world. In today of rapid economic development, we focus so much on the "clear at a glance" yet ignore the subtle. If careful, we will find the truth of art and life around us.In the field of arts, works full of rich emotion of the creator, close to life, conforming to nature and capable of resonating with the audience are beautiful. This beauty does not change due to scale. The paper focuses upon new breakthrough and direction of future development and application of today’s microscopic plastic arts in such respects as materials, creation forms. The premise of continuation of beauty in microscopic arts is to break through and innovate based upon such factors as aesthetic ideas of the times and social environment. The paper starts from the origin and development of microscopic plastic arts, respectively with a detailed analysis of two main language expressions---micro-sculpture art and micro-painting art. Secondly, the research focuses upon such two directions as continuation and innovation of microscopic beauty, with analysis of cases and the creation process of the author himself to interpret microscopic beauty. Finally, the author has some expectations on the future development of microscopic plastic arts. The thinking and understanding of the author are proposed. Thus, a conclusion can be drawn that in which manner, microscopic arts can make beauty continue in a better way.Through research, we have come to the following conclusions:First, in the field of plastic arts, beauty is not affected by the scale, size and other factors. Micro arts can also be wonderful;Second, from the horizontal perspective, contemporary microscopic plastic arts are re-expression of macroscopic beauty. From the longitudinal perspective, they inherit and continue excellent qualities of traditional microscopic plastic arts;Third, innovation on the basis of social needs and aesthetic trends is the premise of microscopic plastic arts maintaining vigorous vitality;Fourth, microscopic plastic arts are closer to life, more integrated into life, more emphasizing the participation of creation;Fifth, with the continuous development of microscopic plastic arts, the creation forms will also be of richer variety.
