Study On English Translation’s Problems And Strategies Of Three Caos’ Poetry

Jian’an literature occupies a significant position in the classical Chinese poetry history, it has the inestimable influence on the later poems. First of all, Jian’an literature broke the depressed situation of poetry in Han Dynasty, then raised the first climax of creation of poetry. Secondly, Jian’an literary has inherited the spirit of realism from Yuefu, reflect the abundant social life, with a unique style of generosity and desolation, which later was called "Jian’an Character", Cao Cao, Cao Pi and Cao Zhi as leaders of Jian’an Character, their poems has a high status and great influence in the history of Chinese poetry. Evolving a style of their own, and could represent the highest achievement in the medieval poetry. The value of history and literature culture determines the importance and the necessity of the research on translating three Caos’(Cao Cao, Cao Pi, Cao Zhi) poems, their poems should be promote to overseas actively. But nowadays, in the promotion of English translation of their poems, not only a limited number of scholars, and the study on English translation of their poems is also less. Yet there are still some problems and shortcomings in studies on the translation of the three Caos poetry, there is still great space for improvement. This paper aims to sort out the situation of English translation of the three Caos’poetry in China and abroad, and through the analysis of the existing English versions, to find out the questionable aspect, and then put forward the corresponding improvement strategies. To make a little contribution to those scholars who study in this field. Besides the introduction and the concluding remark part, this paper divides into three chapters:The first chapter is divided into two sections, the first section discusses the position and role of Jian’an Character in Chinese poetry history, as well as the influence of the three Caos as representatives of the Jian’an Character. The second section discusses the spreading situation of English translation of three Caos poetry, the study of Chinese and foreign scholars of poetry translation of three Caos.The second chapter is the analysis of three Caos poetry translation. This chapter selects the Chinese and foreign scholars to Cao Cao, Cao Pi and Cao Zhi’s poetry translation versions, based on translation’s theories, to analysis of words, sentences, and structure of different texts, explain from the three aspects of tone, form, and meaning, and find out the the problems, then analyze the causes for these problems.The third chapter discusses the improvement strategies on English translation of the three Caos poetry. It is divided into four chapters. The first section discusses the strategy on annotation, from the three aspects of poetic images, allusions and creation background. The second section from the perspective of poetic rhythm, discusses the dialectical relationship between "rhyme" and "loss of meaning", then Put forward the corresponding strategy.
