The Study On The Prehistoric Bird-shaped Jade

Chinese jade has a long history and enjoys high reputation in the world for its unique artistic style and strong ethnic characteristics. Bird worship custom also has a long history in China and the bird is loved by the people in prehistoric., it is meaningful to study prehistoric bird-shaped jades for the absence of words at that time. It is very important to deeply explore the prehistoric bird-shaped jades for further revealing the development rule of prehistoric bird-shaped jades and prehistoric human aesthetic, religious worship,as well as for the study of Chinese prehistoric jades.Bird-shaped jades mainly exist in Hongshan Culture, Lingjiatan Culture,Liangzhu Culture and Longshan Culture,with different characteristics in different culture. This thesis is based on the published materials of prehistoric jades, and combine previous research results, at the same time synthesize the methods of archaeology, philology, art and biology in order to sort the prehistoric bird-shaped jades in comprehensive and systematic way. This thesis also carries on the comparative study of the bird-shaped jades of different culture, trying to find out the relevance and difference of the bird-shaped jades of different culture, in order to have a better understanding on the characteristics and cultural connotation of the prehistoric bird-shaped jades.Chapter one introduces the goal and the significance of the topic, the research object, research status,research methods and the innovation of this thesis.Chapter two sorts the bird-shaped jades of Hongshan Culture, Lingjiatan Culture, Liangzhu Culture, Longshan Culture with typology method, and explains cultural characteristics and cultural connotation of the bird-shaped jades in different culture. Bird-shaped jades in the same culture have same characteristics and cultural connotation, and also have their own characteristics.Chapter four studies the aesthetic characteristics and cultural connotation of prehistoric bird-shaped jades. Aesthetic characteristics mainly focus on the appearance and design. Cultural connotation mainly studies the function of prehistoric bird-shaped jades and the reason of bird worship for prehistoric ancestors.Chapter five summarizes the research of prehistoric bird-shaped jades, and points out the deficiencies.
